The Woman's Foreign Missionary Society was established in 1869 by women parishioners of Oberlin's First and Second Congregational Churches for the purpose of supporting both financially and spiritually the work of women missionaries. In 1885, the name changed to the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society of the First and Second Congregational Churches; in 1920, the Society became part of United Church; and in 1929, it formed the Missionary Department of the Women's Association of First Church in Obe...
